Award-winning Bristol artist Nancy Lane will be giving a talk in the Reading Room as part of the Geneva Reads Community Read series of events. All ages are welcome!
Lane will discuss the process of creating 17 large and and 3 small oil paintings illustrating the perilous migration journey of a vibrantly beautiful warbler from Central America to Canada. She created the paintings for the children’s book “A Warbler’s Journey,” which was written by Pulitzer finalist Scott Weidensaul. She’ll have several of the paintings with her.
The theme of this year’s Community Read is Art, and Lane has been using art to express herself and build “empathy for nature and animals,” since she was a child, she writes on her website. “We can never have enough of that in our world.”
Lane has illustrated numerous other children’s books which are also available in the OWWL Library System catalog.
