Meet the Artist: Kathy Engel is a self-taught watercolor artist living in Naples, New York. She has lived in the Finger Lakes for 40 years. Using Watercolors, Kathy tries to capture the intricate aura of the ever changing beauty of the hills and waterways of the area.
Kathy has hiked and biked the western Finger Lakes for many years, and in all seasons. She photographs the area and uses the photos as a starting point to capture our surroundings. Transparent watercolor washes and glazes in multiple layers convey the depth and warmth of the region on to paper.
Kathy Engel hopes that by painting our area, she is able to help viewers recall the beauty of the Finger Lakes region.
