I needed urgent repairs as an out of town visitor in Ithaca after a 500 mile trip from Michigan. Hunts said they were fully booked but they helped me anyway because they knew I was stranded and in a tough spot. The repair ended up getting a little complicated and expensive but they communicated well and were extremely fair. In my experience this is a trustworthy and very helpful shop. I would highly recommend them!

I had a leak in my transmission cooling line. They unclamped the hose, re-clamped it, and charged me $189. This seems outrageous already, but it didn't stop the leak (even though they said it had) and they added way too much ATF. I called them, and they suggested replacing the transmission lines as they were rusty. They quoted an additional $700. This is a somewhat straightforward job that should cost $200-$400. I complained about this to the manager and he said he "wouldn't blame me if I looked elsewhere". Translation "We're awful, and we know it". I highly advise you take your car somewhere else.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Went in for SIMPLE OIL CHANGE and a little noise. Now have a BLOWN ENGINE. They topped off the oil with 2 qts, left in old filter and installed an ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY POWER STEERING PUMP. $3,000 later I picked up the care with the SAME NOISE. Never dreamt they didn't change the oil. They did however credit some toward the power steering pump and did even more work by fixing the pulley tensioner which was the little noise TO BEGIN WITH. Should have been approx $600 to fix. I smelled burning. Called and sent texts NO RESPONSE. The gentleman behind the counter had his head hung down and would not look at me as I checked out. That was my first sign. Now the engine is blown with only picking my granddaughter up at school four times. $2300 later........ THANKS FOR NOTHING! so very sad for anyone else that has a similar experience. SHOULD BE ASHAMED

This place was one of the very few places I thought I could trust to work on my bmw in Ithaca (because too many others torqued my wheels incorrectly), until they gave me back a crooked steering wheel after the alignment after replacing the lower steering shaft this time. I went back on the next morning, they did not even apologize, were not willing to fix it instantly, but mocked me at supplying my own parts (which are always OEM I obtain from Germany). I really did not want a quarrel. By the way, the reason why I supply my own parts is simply I know the source of the parts, and I have a membership with the supplier. And if I bring my own parts, it is usually easier and quicker so that my car spends less time at the shop when I daily drive it. Price is another factor, true. Last year I wanted them to quote on a set of struts, they quoted 1900 and 11 hours of labor. Later I brought the car to NYC and had all done at a bmw specialty (who work on all M cars) for less than one grand. Again, you agree to use customer supplied parts, I agree to pay a premium for the labor 150/hour by the way). You cannot laugh at customers for not being to “afford” the markup. That is not how you treat customers. Yes, eventually they were able to fix it, but my morning time was wasted, and I had to take Uber twice (40 dollars). And they still never said one sorry for this all inconvenience. If you were able to fix it quickly, why didn’t you do it right the first time? I tend to believe some of the mechanics here are competent. As I said, this shop was the first one who followed bmw torque specs. However, it has become a hit or miss. I hope you can improve.

The best experience I’ve had at a garage by a mile. Staff are very knowledgeable and explain all services clearly. Excellent work done quickly and at extremely reasonable prices.
