The 2020 Rutabaga Curl Goes Viral!
December 19, 2020 @ 1:00 pm
The 23nd Annual International Rutabaga Curl will be held on the last Saturday outdoor market of the year (December 19th) at the Ithaca Farmers Market pavilion. This year features TWO ways to participate:
1. You can show up to watch.
We are only allowing vendors to participate onsite, to keep crowds down. We will set the curl up in the dock wing of the pavilion as usual, but start later in the day (1pm.) The Rutabaga God & Goddess will light the torch, but there will be no parade or chorus this year. We will broadcast the event online through Facebook Live, Instagram Live, and through recorded videos and photos.
2. You can participate online!
We will also run a virtual curl! Starting this weekend, if you buy a rutabaga or turnip at market – you can stop by the office to register for the virtual curl and grab a bib number. Any customers who send in videos of themselves curling in their backyards (or any outdoor space) on Dec 19th will be featured on our social media, and we will mail out prizes to those that report their distances.
**You can pre-order a t-shirt at the office or online – whether you’re participating or not. Choose local pickup or shipping. Check out the shirt here: https://ithacamarket.com/shop/
