One Book, One Bristol – Sorted: Growing Up, Coming Out, and Finding My Place (A Transgender Memoir)
May 19 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
When your child, sister, brother, friend, or relative comes out as transgender, knowing how to support them can be difficult. You have questions but you don’t know where to ask them. You may not even know what you want to ask, or how to ask it without causing offense or hurting feelings.
With the support of a grant from the American Library Association, the Bristol Library is creating an opportunity for the community to come together to learn about the transgender experience and then to talk and share in a safe space.
We’ll be reading Sorted: Growing up, Coming Out, and Finding My Place (A Transgender Memoir) by Jackson Bird. Each person can have their own copy, but audio and eBook formats are available on OWWL2Go with a library card and at the library.
On May 19th at 6p.m. we’ll gather together with Library Director Jessica Winum and Amy Babiarz, BSW, LGBTQ Center Coordinator from the Family Counseling Center of the Finger Lakes, to talk about our questions, thoughts, concerns, and hopes.
Join us to build a better build world for ourselves and our transgender kin.
To sign up message us on FB, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the library at 585-229-5862. Seats are limited.
